A call for the leader of government business to update the public on the sourcing of a new ferry

A member of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly has called on the Premier to give the public a status report on the sourcing of a new ferry.


Easton Taylor Farrell says many groups and individual are planning summer activities around a ferry service and would need an answer to confirm their travel plans.

Last week the office of the premier in a press release said the evaluation process for the acquisition of a ferry service between Montserrat and Antigua is still on-going.

A well-capitalized bank is need in Montserrat

The governor of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) is making a case for the establishment of well-capitalized banks in Montserrat and the rest of the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union (ECCU).

Timothy J. Antoine says this is one key target that is being pursued to ensure that creditors and especially depositors are protected.

Speaking to media Professionals here recently, Mr. Antoine said that in order for this to happen, every bank in Montserrat and the entire Currency Union for that matter has to have strong capital.

Darker tint allowed on Montserrat

After months of agitation by motorists the government has responded by allowing a darker shade of tint to be used on motor vehicles on the island.

The Road Traffic Regulations was amended last week by the Governor in Council acting on the advice of the Cabinet.

Under the new regulations a person can place a film, tint or any other obscuring device not exceeding ten inches  in height from the top of the windscreen.
