A former Financial Secretary takes issue with EU blacklisting of Montserrat and other Caribbean island’s

A former Financial Secretary has criticized the decision of the European Union to blacklist several Caribbean countries as tax havens.

The European Union said the move was part of its crackdown on multinational companies trying to avoid paying tax within the union.

Mr. John Skerritt believes that countries like Montserrat are treated unfairly.


Brades Primary School tops the islands score in the Caribbean Primary Exit Assessment

Brades Primary School has attained the highest individual score for the island in the 2015 Caribbean Primary Exit Examinations (CPEA).

A press release from the Ministry of Education said the school scored 458 points while the highest individual score at St Augustine was 446 and 423 at the Look Out Primary School.

Of the top 10 positions—6 went to Brades Primary school and 4 went to St Augustine school.


Sujue Davis receives Montserrat Badge of Honour

Sujue Davis has been given an extraordinary honour.

The  philanthropist has been presented with the Montserrat Badge Of Honour and Certificate, a rare award for a non-Montserratian.

The accolade is in recognition of her extraordinary achievements in assisting many organizations in Montserrat during her four plus years on the island.
