A new, but familiar face is now at the helm of coordinating Montserrat’s 50th anniversary of festival in December.
Mr. John E Whyke on Tuesday confirmed that he has been tapped as the new Chairman of the Montserrat Festival Committee.
Mr. Whyke last served as Head of MONFEST in 2009.
He was first appointed as Chairman in 1988 and served for several years after that.
Mr. Whyke also held other positions on MONFEST over the years to include on the Carol singing, Calypso and Road Jam, Committees.
Speaking to ZJB News, Mr. Whyke said the committee is now in the process of finalizing the year end Calendar, adding activities for visitors to participate in during the day.
Mr. Whyke has also confirmed that the various sub-committees are now in place and will kick-start their preparations this week.
In his first message to the public, the Chairman is calling on Montserratians both at home and in the Diaspora to work in unison to ensure that the 50th anniversary is successful.
Mr. Whyke is calling on everyone who has Montserrat at heart to make the extra sacrifice to support the activities this year.
